Junk food may be delicious, but it clearly isn’t nutritious. For years, I avoided “healthy” snacks, assuming they wouldn't taste good. However, since working at BubbForest, I've discovered some fantastic alternatives to my favorite junk foods.
I embarked on a mission to try various items from the BubbForest store to find the very best foods that were not only healthier options based on their ingredients but also satisfied my taste buds as much as the “junk” I used to buy.
Here are some of my favorite discoveries:
Suggestions for Your Sweet Tooth
-PB2 PB Thins: My husband has requested that we keep these stocked at home, and they’re a great addition to our lunch boxes.
-Yogavive Organic Popped Apple Chips: These are by far the best apple chips I have ever tasted—crunchy and sweet!
-Sahale Snacks Pomegranate Vanilla Cashews: Although I'm not a big fan of nuts, these pomegranate vanilla flavored cashews are undeniably delicious.
-Back to Nature Chocolate Chunk Cookies: If you have a soft spot for chocolate chip cookies, these will become your new favorite.
-Go Raw Spirulina Super Chips: These taste way better than they look and are surprisingly satisfying!
-Bob’s Red Mill Shortbread Cookie Mix: A co-worker brought these in one day and dunking the cookie into my coffee changed my world.
Best Salty Snacks
-Somersaults: While these sunflower seed snacks also come in a great cinnamon flavor, cracked black pepper is my favorite.
-Simply 7 Lentil Chips: The creamy dill flavor is reminiscent of sour cream and onion chips, and I feel much better about snacking on these!
-Back to Nature Spinach & Roasted Garlic Crackers: These are the best snack crackers I have ever tasted, and I struggle to not eat the whole box!
-Krave Teriyaki Pork Jerky: This jerky is better for you than what you find in stores, and my husband loves finding them in his lunch.
-Living Nutz Garlic Onion Pistachios: These little guys pack a big flavor punch and are surprisingly healthy too.
-Kameda Frosted Rice Crackers: Deceptively delicious, they’re crunchy, salty, sweet, and taste great.
Everyday Essentials
-Health Valley Cereal Bars: These are far superior to Nutri-Grain bars.
-Eden Foods black beans, quinoa, and pasta sauces: These are staples in my cupboards.
-Hodgson Mill bread and baking mixes: Offering both whole wheat and gluten-free options that taste good and are easy to prepare.
-Kodiak Cakes Flapjack Mix: For hearty and delicious breakfasts.
-BubbForest Organic Spices: Cinnamon and nutmeg are particularly popular.
-Bob’s Red Mill oatmeal, chia seeds, potato flakes, and polenta.
-Simply Organic vanilla extract: I use this frequently in baking.
-Annie’s condiments and mac & cheese: I greatly prefer these to other store-bought varieties.
-Ghee: I prefer this to all other cooking oils, using it on toast and for stovetop cooking.
-BubbForest Organic Ground Coffee: Certified organic with a rich, smooth taste that is perfect for starting the day.
While I don’t meticulously read every label, I always scan the ingredients. Some of these snacks may not be as healthy as they could be, but for my family, small changes lead to better, lifelong choices. And all of these are great steps in the right direction. Just remember not to overeat and practice portion control.
What are your favorite healthy snacks? Let me know! I’m always looking for more awesome finds.
