The Difference Between CBD Isolate & Full Spectrum CBD Hemp Extract
How CBD Isolate and Full-Spectrum CBD Hemp Extracts Differ
Many health-conscious individuals are keen to explore the intriguing world of CBD hemp extracts, which can initially seem overwhelming.
Numerous companies offer a variety of CBD hemp extract-based products in different forms, including hemp-derived CBD oils. It can be challenging to distinguish the differences and identify which products are reliable.
During your search for the best CBD hemp extract product, terms like “CBD isolate” or “full spectrum CBD” frequently appear.
These represent two distinct types of hemp-derived CBD. Understanding their differences can significantly help you choose the right CBD hemp extract product for your needs.
Hemp Plant Components
The hemp plant, a member of the cannabis family, contains various phytochemicals, including cannabinoids, terpenes, and other compounds.1
CBD is one of the cannabinoids present and is often the most bioavailable, compared to other cannabinoids.
The extraction method used determines whether a product is classified as CBD isolate or full spectrum CBD.2
CBD Isolate
As the name implies, CBD isolate is the purest form of CBD hemp extract.
Through vaporization or chromatography, CBD molecules are isolated from all other cannabinoids and terpenes in the hemp plant, resulting in a product that is 99% pure CBD with minimal to no THC content.
CBD isolate products often come in the form of a white powder or a blend of the powder with a carrier oil like medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil to enhance digestion.
Full Spectrum CBD Hemp Extract
In contrast, full spectrum CBD hemp extract retains the natural composition of the hemp plant, capturing all cannabinoids (including CBD) and terpenes.
Various full spectrum CBD hemp extract products, such as hemp-derived CBD oil and hemp-derived CBD gummies, may contain different levels of CBD and other cannabinoids and terpenes, as the plants and extraction processes can vary.
