Your Guide to Using Hemp-Derived CBD Oil
Top Tips for Better Health by Using CBD Oil
Learning about CBD hemp extract and integrating it into your wellness routine can be a lengthy process.
Once you grasp what it is, understand how it interacts with your body, and discover the various forms it can take, you'll need to learn the optimal ways to use it (spoiler alert: there’s more than one "right" way!).
This guide is designed to simplify the process and facilitate the integration of CBD hemp extract into your life.
How to Use CBD Oil
A common method of ingesting CBD hemp extract is through a hemp-derived CBD oil tincture. Your endocannabinoid system’s receptors depend on lipid-derived messengers such as fat-based phytocannabinoids, endocannabinoids, and cannabinoids to function effectively.1
Manufacturers often combine CBD hemp extract with a healthy carrier oil like coconut oil or olive oil, which provide additional benefits such as energizing medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) or heart- and brain-healthy essential fatty acids and other nutrients.
How Much CBD Oil Should I Take?
Hemp-derived CBD oil products feature varying amounts of CBD. The concentration can range from three to 50 milligrams per serving, reflecting the diverse daily amounts that individuals may require.
It may require some experimentation to discover the dosage that suits you best. If you are new to CBD hemp extract, it's advisable to start with a smaller amount and adjust as needed based on your experiences.
Most products specify a serving size (generally half a dropper, or about 15 drops). Depending on the potency, you might take one to five servings orally up to twice daily, as advised by a healthcare professional. Do not exceed 10 servings per day. Higher potency products require fewer servings.
CBD hemp extract is also available as an oil spray. These sprays usually contain less CBD per dose, so the serving guidelines mentioned apply to these as well.
For targeted application, consider using a CBD oil balm, which allows for gentle, moisturizing application virtually anywhere you need it.
When is the Best Time to Take CBD Oil?
CBD hemp extract can be taken at any time: morning, day, or night. Studies indicate that consuming CBD with fatty-rich foods can enhance absorption, though the carrier oils in many products also aid in this process.2
To administer hemp-derived CBD oil, place the drops (or spray the oil) under your tongue and hold for 30 to 60 seconds. This method, known as "sublingual," facilitates faster absorption compared to ingestion. Both methods, however, contribute to overall wellbeing.
Since CBD hemp extract is plant-derived, its taste may vary. To avoid flavor issues, try a hemp-derived CBD capsule or hemp-derived CBD gummies, available in various flavors.
You can also incorporate a powder formula into your favorite recipes for a subtler application.
